Carer and parental status

Carer's provide much needed support for people who through illness, social or cultural factors are substantially dependent on their voluntary services. The rights of carers to be protected from discrimination is covered under the Equal Opportunity Act.

Biological parents, step-parents, foster parents, adoptive parents and guardians all have equal rights to fair treatment in the areas of employment, education, accommodation, goods and services and clubs.
