On the 30 November, 2005 the Equal Opportunity Commission Victoria presented a public forum to discuss the issues relating to disclosure of a disability in employment. The forum was funded as part of the Victorian Governments Fairer Victoria program, which aims to create a socially sustainable community by reducing disadvantage and creating a more tolerant and inclusive Victoria.

Merinda Epstein was first diagnosed with a mental illness when she was 18. She is centrally involved in human rights issues in her work as policy worker at the Mental Health Legal Centre in Melbourne.
